
Allison Brooks Janney was born on the 19th of November, 1959. [2] She is an American actress. It is well-known for her performance across many kinds of genres, both on screen and stage during her career of three decades. Janney has received various accolades such as an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, and seven Primetime Emmy Awards, in addition to receiving nominations to win Two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston and grew up within Dayton (Ohio). The actress was awarded a scholarship to studying at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after she graduated from Kenyon College. Janney became a television star in 1999 with the character C. J. Cregg who played the character in the political drama of NBC The West Wing (2000-2006). She was awarded four Primetime Emmy Awards for this character. In 2014, she was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in the Drama Series due to her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex.
